GENERAL MANAGER - Job Description.
Love&Madness are looking to appoint a new General Manager. This is a multi-faceted role, requiring marketing, fund-raising and administrative skills. The role would suit a self-starter, with a knowledge of arts administration, marketing and fundraising who is keen to expand their experience. The job could easily be home-based or in a shared office base. The position would fill a 40 hour week, with the hours to be arranged, and could include some evening and weekend work.
The General Manager position would be take over from Amy Taylor, the company's first GM for Love&Madness, working alongside: Artistic Director/Producer, Neil Sheppeck, and Marketing/Design/PR Manager, Steve Forster of SFP Communications, both of which work freelance. L&M operates on a national basis and are prepared to be flexible in geographical and physical location (Neil is based in London, and Steve is based in Eastern England).
Amy has spent the last two years establishing the company's charitable and financial status, setting up accounts and working practises, and developing relationships with representatives of trusts, foundations, Arts Council England, potential sponsors.
We expect that a minimum of 24 hours a week will be spent attracting money into the company. This will involve applying to foundations for financial support, seeking commercial sponsorship, selling advertising in the Company's programmes, and writing grant applications.
As Administrator, the successful applicant would spend the remaining hours drawing up contracts for venues, artists, touring personnel etc; booking transport and accommodation; administering budgets and carrying out basic bookkeeping.
This appointment would suit a self-motivated, well-organised, creative-thinking
person with a strong interest in the fund-raising and administrative aspects of a national touring theatre company.
